| Topaz on Rhyolite Matrix from the Thomas Range, Utah: Topaz Mountain. Beautiful topaz from the "V notch Saddle" on the east side of the Topaz Mountain cauldera. These came from about 9 feet down through semi-decomposed rhyolite. Quite some serious digging to get these beauties! The topaz formed in this zone often forms relatively large (sometimes 2 to 4 inches) and often "gem quality" topaz in a nice rhyolite matrix like this one. |
