MOST RARE GEM STONE! Red Beryl from the Thomas Range, Utah: Topaz Mountain. Red Beryl was fist discovered in the the Thomas Mountain range (not the Wah-wah range) by Maynard Bixby at the "Maynard Bixby Topaz Mine". Bixby thought it was Beryl but the color Red was unknown at the time. He sent specimens to a geochemist in the early 1900's who described it as a new variety of beryl. It was later named "Bixbite" in honor of Maynard. This name is rarely used because it is easily confused with Bixbyite (also discovered by Maynard). These crystals came from "The Red Zone", about 700 feet above the Topaz Mountain cauldera floor where most of the Red Beryl occurs and another deposit outside the cauldera. The Red Beryl sometimes forms twins and record keepers and also forms with bixbyite (metallic cubes) and with topaz. All versions are represented here. Exceptionally gemmy and large, sometimes more opaque, it is always very rare and very beautiful! A SMALL WONDERFUL PACKAGE! OK, here's the story: These are all of the very best red beryl specimens I have. They came from the ground by my own hands over 3 years of hard digging. Trying to raise a 10 year old by myself I find I really need the money more than the gems so I'm offering the entire collection at a price I feel is fair considering how rare, valuable, beautiful and hard to dig these little beauties are, plus that this is truly an excellent collection. I truly would rather not part with them but for the right price they are yours. You will rarely see such a collection let alone one that is for sale. If you are looking for the world most rare and valuable gem, don't miss this offering. - Skye You are bidding on 8 Red Beryl crystal specimens pictured below. No reserve. |
