Labradorite: named after Labrador, where it was first discovered
It is also found in Madagascar (where this material comes from), India, Newfoundland, Finland, and Russia. Its distinctive flash of iridescent colors is known as "labradorescence."  These beautiful flashes of color change according to the angle of light refraction, and may be blue, green, yellow, and pink, with the majority of the stone itself a translucent dark gray in color. It is captivating to see!  One of my favorite stones! It is a semi translucent greenish gray member of the plagioclase feldspar family. It has dazzling opalescent flashes of color.  "A Man is like a bit of labrador spar, which has no luster as you turn your hand until you come to a particular angle; then it shows deep and beautiful color". Ralph Waldo Emerson, Experience  Metaphysical: Emits a powerful light energy, from planetary sources and beings, to the soul of the user. Used in facilitating astral projection. Stone of transformation and utilization of the subconscious mind. Promotes intellectual, intuitive, and mystical wisdom. Stimulates brain, reduces anxiety and stress. Clears, balances, and protects aura. It unites the personal self with the understanding required to both realize and achieve the destiny of this life and synthesizes intellectual thought with intuitive, mystical and psychic. The iridescent colors really flash at you from this translucent gem grade labradorite. This is some new material I procured that has a nice balance of blues and golds and is more gemmy and transparent than my last batch. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
I have included an "mpeg video" so you can see the stone and it's fire in motion and get a better idea of what you are getting. The video is well worth the small 1/4 megabyte download - about 70 seconds to download on a 56k modem.
