* This has to be one of the best if not the best opal I've cut. The base is as close to N1 black as I've seen. To me it looks noticeably darker than the printed N scale I got from the Gemological Association of Australia. The fire is vivid and electric bright against the pitch black background - I estimate a 4.5 brightness (from 1 to 5 on the Downing Scale) - electric red and blue with a little gold and green - looks great at any angle. Luster is excellent - this gem will make an exquisite ring or pendant. You won't see many opals this nice anywhere near this price. Shop around and you'll see what I mean - this stone is a true treasure at a bargain price. *
