Wave Hill Agate designer gem cabochon 8/11/2019 01 - 47 x 25
x 3.4 mm - 28 carats - This is my favorite agate to cut and
this cab is made from very gemmy rough with the most lively
and dramatic parallax (aka shadow) effect I've seen.
Parallax, rare in most agates, is a play of light that
creates an illusion that looks similar to chatoyance in
Tigereye. This agate comes from the Northern Territory
badlands of Australia and is rare enough that it's truly
difficult to get. Thanks to Terry Maple for this wonderful
rough. This stunningly beautiful paisley flame shaped
cabochon is one of the prettiest Wave Hill cabs I've cut. It
sports a very low, beautifully rounded dome, girdled sides
and a flat beveled back all with outstanding liquid high
gloss luster. This is one Super nice gem. Here is a video
