Wave Hill Agate freeform gem 3/2/2018 01 - 40 x 25 x 3.3 mm - 25 carats - This is my favorite agate to cut in the world and this gem is cut from a very gemmy and translucent piece with the most lively and dramatic parallax (aka shadow) effect I've seen in any agate. Parallax, rare in Wave Hill and most other agates, is a play of light that creates an illusion that looks similar to chatoyance in Tigereye. This agate comes from the Northern Territory badlands of Australia and is rare enough that it's difficult to get. Thanks to Terry Maple for this wonderful rough. This stunning and beautiful freeform drop marquis cabochon is a pleasure to hold and behold. It sports a very low, beautifully rounded dome, girdled sides and a flat beveled back all with excellent high gloss luster.
